From what I've seen/heard, a ring with a number of cubes equal to a multiple of seven will yield a ring that tends to be more rigid and less flimsy. I would also suggest using different units to make the cubes (or use glue), because they fall apart pretty easily.

Thank you very much, your compliments mean a lot to me!

Ironically enough, I had this idea since I started origami, but I never completed it until I thought it would be a good gift for my now ex-girlfriend. Still don't know what she did with/to it after I broke up with her.

Not a problem. I find myself not commenting on very many things anymore, but this was too beautiful to not comment on!

Aww man! That would be such an awesome gift to receive and now you don't have it anymore. :iconotlplz: Well, I guess that wouldn't stop you from making it again if you wanted to. :3

If I do make another one, I think I'm going to glue the units together. There were many times where I came close to giving up because it kept falling apart.

If you don't mind my asking, how long did it take to make the enitre model? Also, how many units are used total?
Reply
:iconnegazero:
NegaZero Featured By Owner Jun 24, 2010  Hobbyist Artisan Crafter
There are 144 units (12 for each cube), and it took anywhere from 10 to 14 hours to fold and assemble. Probably more, seeing as how the units have a tendency to fall apart easily.
